how do you hit a fairway wood correctly?

I am playing well at the moment and long game has always been my strongest part but the fairway wood isnt going correctly. The height I'm getting on it isnt enough. I can hit driver correctly, leaning back and hitting it on the upswing, and irons hitting down to take a divot, but what do i do with a 3 wood or 5 wood? and what do I do at set up, it is normal or do i lean back like i do with a driver?

Well first of all you should not be "leaning back" in any swing. You should be transferring your weight each and everytime but in different ratios. Hitting fairway woods is the same swing as with your driver except play the ball back just a bit in your stance....let the loft of the club take care of the ball flight.....Some people fear hitting a "wood" into the ground....you should be taking a divot even with a wood off the ground...just barley leaving the roots..very shallow. Try making your turns more with your shoulders and not your hands...making a long arc path.....It is a lot harder to do with today's enormous driver heads but back a few years ago it wasn't unheard of hitting your driver "off the deck" when faced with 250 + yrd second shot on a par 5......
